Day 29 – Yellowstone Part One

These next two blog entries are going to be short, because there’s literally nothing left to write about the majestic scenery of Yellowstone that hasn’t already been written or said by others. The photos will have to be worth thousands of words.

I will say this: I can’t believe I was fifty-one years old before I saw this place for the first time. I wish we’d have had several more days to explore and enjoy it. It seemed like every turn in the road brought another surprise; for each well-known landmark like Grand Prismatic Spring or Old Faithful, there were a dozen other interesting and unique things along the route. We had perfect weather for longer hikes, too.

We stayed on the west and south sides of the park today, eating dinner just before sundown outside Yellowstone, near Grand Teton. Because of our “America the Beautiful” pass from the National Parks Service, we didn’t have to worry about exiting and entering the parks.

Tomorrow, we will explore the northernmost parts of Yellowstone before leaving.
