Day 30 – Yellowstone Part Two

Today was the Fourth of July, and our family felt incredible freedom exploring the vastness of our country’s first national park.

We stayed mostly on the northern route through Yellowstone today, enjoying vastly different scenery from yesterday’s, including an open plain with a decent-sized herd of bison. In fact, the stretch of road where we stopped for photos is the same stretch where a bison stampede happened a couple of months later, in which the side of someone’s car took a serious beating!

We eventually (and reluctantly) exited the park, then wound through many miles of tiny back roads (gee, thanks, BOTH map apps!) to our overnight destination: Cody, Wyoming.

As with the last entry, it’s probably best to let the Yellowstone photos speak for themselves. However, I want to point out that one of the biggest highlights for us was Mammoth Hot Springs. I’ve never seen anything like it. I hope that my selections from the way-too-many pictures I took of it do it justice for you!
